We celebrate Dorothy Ruth Waalkes Vis’ earthly life with many happy memories. We rejoice with her as she entered heaven on July 29, 2022. Dorothy was welcomed by the Lord and a multitude of angels, her loving husband Lynn, her parents , and many friends and relatives .
Dorothy was born November 6, 1928 to Carl and Lena Waalkes. She grew up as an only child, but after marrying Lynn on October 5, 1950, her quiet, no sibling life was changed with God’s gift of five daughters, and there was never a quiet moment again.
Dorothy loved gardening, cooking, and entertaining guests. She was always willing to drive friends for doctor appointments and errands.
She enjoyed her church and served as Sunday School teacher, elder, and ladies aid member.
Dorothy was so ready for the Lord to take her to her heavenly home, and so we rejoice knowing how happy she now is.
She will be lovingly remembered by her five daughters, Gayle Larson, Worthington ; Barbara (Dan) Wilson, Duluth; Lynel (Dean) Hokeness, Rushmore; Lori (Kevin) Jaton Sioux Falls, SD; Robyn DeJongh(Troy Lobbins) Sioux Falls, SD, eight grandchildren, Cory Wilson, Amber Luinenburg, Matthew Larson, Starr Burch, Lance DeJongh, Lacey Albright, Caleb Jaton, Brady Jaton, and eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2022, from 6-8pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation will also be from 9-10 am Tuesday prior to the service at church.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, south of Rushmore with Pastor Randall Knuth officiating. Burial will follow the service in Church Cemetery.
