DOUGLAS DEAN KUPER, age 75, of Beaver Creek, died Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Sanford USD Medical Center, in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born May 11, 1945, in Luverne, to Edward and Eunice (Bunte) Kuper. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard. Doug married Barb Nagel on April 3, 1965 in St. Paul. The couple lived in the Twin Cities area before moving to Beaver Creek in 2002. Doug owned & operated Kuper Excavating for thirty years.
He attended St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Doug was a motor head. He loved car racing, tractors and snowmobiles. He was also a “self-proclaimed” Arborist.
Doug is survived by his wife, Barb Kuper, Beaver Creek; three children, Brent Kuper, Savage; Lisa Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; and Tracy (Scott) Hummelgard, Lakeville; five grandchildren, D.J. (friend, Karlie Stratman) Johnson, Aric Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Justin (Jordan) Hummelgard and Christian (fiancée, Jacquelyn Fleming) Hummelgard; and a great-grandson, Beckham Hummelgard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Dale Kuper.
A private family funeral service will take place at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, at a later date.
