EARL FRANCIS MADISON, age 77, of Adrian, died peacefully Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the Sanford USD Medical Center, in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by family. He was born June 4, 1946, in Adrian, to Floyd and Alma (Wieneke) Madison. Earl graduated from St. Adrian Catholic High School in 1964. He served his country in the Minnesota National Guard.
Earl married Marilyn Johnson on August 24, 1968 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived on the family dairy farm northwest of Adrian. Earl lived there his entire life.
He was a member of St. Adrian Church where he had served as an usher. Earl enjoyed his cows and nurturing his calves & trees. He deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren, his Catholic faith and desserts.
Earl is survived by his wife, Marilyn Madison, Adrian; five children, Rebecca (Joe) Cox, Ames, IA; Mark (Dawn) Madison, Adrian; Jean (Steve) DeGroot, Magnolia; Tom (Sarah) Madison, Sioux Falls, SD; and Crystal (Andy) Domeyer, Monroe, SD; fourteen grandchildren, Abby Jepsen, Rachel Jepsen, Jade (Bret) Kine, Tyler Madison, Tucker Madison, Cassidy Madison, Chris (Lexi) DeGroot, Amber DeGroot, Kailea (Ryan) Weitz, Vincent Madison, Vivienna Madison, Mavy Domeyer, Maguire Domeyer and Griffin Domeyer; three sisters, Joyce Faragher, Worthington; Diane Beckman, Wilmont; and Rita Becker, Pueblo, CO; brother, Morris (Brenda) Madison, Aurora, CO; and two sisters-in-law, Alverna Madison, Iowa; and Karen Madison, Adrian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Leroy and Gary Madison; and four sisters, Janet Madison, Joan Taylor, Agnes Beckman and Margaret Pick.
A time of fellowship will be from 5-7 pm Friday, July 21, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian, with Parish Prayers at 5 pm. A time of fellowship will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A Memorial Mass will be 11 am Saturday at St. Adrian Catholic Church, in Adrian, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Burial with full military honors provided by the Adrian American Legion, will be in the St. Adrian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Adrian Catholic Church or St. Adrian Cemetery.
