EDWARD RAY WOODLEY, age 88, of Luverne, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 24, 2020, at Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan in Luverne. He was born January 1, 1932, in Luverne, to Ray and Luella (Pank) Woodley. He grew up on a farm north of Luverne. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1949. He also attended Worthington Junior College.
He married Beverly Erickson on September 30, 1951. They lived in Luverne and became parents to four children, Keith, Nancy, Bruce and Carol. Beverly passed away in 1975. Ed married Jeanne (Rust) Bittner on October 2, 1976. He was a step-father to three children, Sheila, Debra, and Mark.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne. He was a member of the Luverne Fire Dept. from 1958 to 1982. Ed worked for A.R. Woods, Merrill Shoe Store, Nelson Bros, U.S. Postal Service, Woodley Auto Service, Jubilee Foods, Glens Food Store, Frakes Water and Bomgaars.
Ed is survived by his wife Jeanne, Luverne; sons, Keith (Laura) Woodley, Bruce (Wanda) Woodley, Mark (Shelly) Bittner, daughters, Nancy (Paul) Wurpts, Sheila Rust, Debra Raymond, and Carol (Dan) Oren, a sister, Mary Ann Hustad, extended family, Bud (Gloria) Rust, Don (Arliss) Rust, Colleen (Gene) Cragoe, Karen Rust, Lorna Lorenzen, Cleo (Art) Bloemendaal, Roger (Marlene) Erickson, eighteen grandchildren, twenty - three great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Beverly, infant sister, grandson, Shawn Bittner, nephew, Jim Spicer, Jim and Patricia Roberts, Albin and Florence Erickson, Art and Grace Rust, Verdell Lorenzen, Keith Rust.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Thursday at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Andrew Palmquist. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
