Etta Remhof Obituary

   ETTA MURIEL REMHOF, age 94, a resident of Prince William County, VA, formerly of Marshall, died Sunday, May 10, 2020 at the Birmingham Green Nursing Home in Manassas, VA.  Born October 19, 1925 in Ransom Township, Nobles County, MN; to parents Henry and Anna (Bastow) Heideman. She attended rural school in District #21 in Ransom Township.

   She was united in marriage to Harold “Abe” Remhof on December 13, 1947 at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore. They made their home in Worthington, Minnesota and later moved to Marshall, Minnesota.  Abe preceded her in death on February 10, 1964.  Etta worked for the Marshall Independent newspaper after Abe’s death then worked for the Marshall Independent School Districts a cook until her retirement in 1987.  She moved to the Melbourne, Florida area and divided her time between volunteering at the local soup kitchen, The Daily Bread, the Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepherd, and traveling to visit her children, grandchildren, and relatives.

   Etta enjoyed bowling, walking along the beach picking up shells and traveling to spend time with her family.   Etta moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota in 2000 to be nearer to family.  In 2011 Etta moved to Woodbridge, VA to live with her daughter. She enjoyed spending time at the Prince William County Senior Center and the Adult Day Healthcare Program.

   She is survived by her sons, George (Catharina Huyser) Remhof of Pennsylvania, Marc (Cheryl) Remhof, and Matt Remhof of Minnesota; her daughters, TamaraRemhof and Tarasia Remhof of Virginia; her grandchildren Justin (Octavia Subia) Remhof of Virginia, Jessica (Josh) Anderson of Minnesota, Kennedy Remhof of Minnesota, Heather (Carl) Hoover of North Carolina, Jack Pawlak and Samantha Pawlak of Minnesota; her great- grandchildren, Ari and Luna Anderson and Noah Hoover; her brother James (Gloria) Heideman of Rushmore, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, John, Frederick, Frank, Henry and Albert Heideman; and sisters, Ann Ennenga, Margaret Grimmius, and Minnie Fath.
