Gary Loosbrock Obituary

Gary Marvin Loosbrock, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on May 29, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 27, 1946, in Lismore, MN, to his parents, Marvin and Lois Loosbrock.

Growing up in Lismore alongside his younger brothers, Steven and Mark, Gary forged deep connections that would shape his life. After graduating from St. John's University in 1968, Gary found himself at the Lismore Bar, where in walked Vickie Lynn from Adrian, MN. In a moment of courage, he made a bet with his mother that he could take Vickie on a date, to which Lois replied, “No way will she go with you!”. That wager turned into a lifetime of love and devotion as Gary and Vickie were joined in matrimony on June 21st, 1969, at St. Adrian's Catholic Church. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their children: Troy Loosbrock, Todd (Amy) Loosbrock, Tony (Nicolle) Loosbrock, and Lindsay (Ryan) Henning.

Gary and Vickie began their journey in the Twin Cities, where Gary worked for Control Data. In 1975, they made the decision to return to his hometown, Lismore, where he joined the family business, State Bank of Lismore, proudly carrying on the legacy as part of the third generation of the Loosbrock family. Gary dedicated himself to serving customers, employees, and the community, leaving an indelible mark throughout his career until his retirement in 2010.

Gary cared deeply for his community. He was a valued member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, offered his services to the Lismore Fire and Rescue, the Booster Club, and various other involvements. His commitment and selflessness made a profound impact on those around him.

One of Gary's favorite pastimes was golfing. Oftentimes a round with his children turned into either a lesson in golf or life. He made life-long friendships at Worthington Country Club, Adrian Country Club, The Strand in Naples and Alexandria Golf Club. Summers were spent at their cabin on Lake Carlos in Alexandria, MN, where Gary enjoyed fishing for crappies and walleye. He often said the cabin was one of the best investments as it brought the family together, creating many lasting memories with family and friends. In the winters, Gary and Vickie enjoyed spending their time in Naples, FL where they made new friends and hosted many family and friends over the years.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his grandchildren: Brittany Loosbrock, Nick Loosbrock, Alex Loosbrock, Zack Loosbrock, Bennett Loosbrock, Brennen Loosbrock, Alexis Loosbrock, Alaina Loosbrock, Adelyn Loosbrock, Grayson Henning, Chase Henning, and Max Henning.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lois Loosbrock, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Maxine Lynn. Though he has departed this earth, Gary's spirit and impact will forever be carried in the hearts of his surviving family members, friends, and the community he held dear.

Surrounded by his loved ones during his final days, Gary Loosbrock passed away at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will forever be treasured. May he rest in peace, forever embraced by the warmth of our collective hearts.
