Dr. Gordon Wilson Smith passed away at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Windom on Wednesday March 18, 2020. Born on March 18, 1926, he was the son of Raymond and Katherine Smith. Upon graduating from Windom High School in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was discharged after the surrender of Japan in August 1945. Gordon completed chiropractor school in Chicago, IL in 1949 and married Isabelle Bunkers of Windom that same year. The couple moved to Worthington where they raised five children. Gordon set up his chiropractic practice in 1950. He enjoyed his work very much and continued to see patients, after he formally retired, into his early 90’s. Gordon is survived by his children: Mark (Joan) Smith, Christine (Dennis) Miller, Ruth Smith, Julie Smith (Mickey Heston), and Joseph Smith (Jean); grandchildren Amy, Jennifer, Jeremy, Lara, Jana, Caleb, Anna, Dillon, Dustin, and Tanner; and ten great grandchildren. Gordon was a member of the MN Chiropractic Association, the American Legion, the Elks Lodge and many other organizations over the years. He enjoyed family and friends, reading, hunting and fishing, motorcycling, and in his later years, traveling the country in his motor home. A private family committal service was held at the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, is assisting the family with arrangements.
