Helen Lonneman Obituary

   HELEN ROSE (WIENEKE) LONNEMAN, age 88, of Adrian, died Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Adrian Country Living Cottages. She was born January 17, 1934, in Lismore, to Cletus and Rose (Recker) Wieneke. She graduated from St. Anthony Catholic High School in 1951. She was employed at Brentwood in Adrian.
   Helen married Sylvester "Sy" Lonneman on February 1, 1956, at St. Anthony. The couple began farming south of Adrian after their marriage.
   She was a member of St. Adrian’s Catholic Church, President of the Ladies Aid, member of the Adrian Legion Auxiliary, taught religious education classes, a communion distributor to the shut-ins, and volunteered at the Adrian Nursing Home.
   Helen was a successful fast pitch softball pitcher and golfer. Helen and Sy took many fishing trips to Canada and throughout the United States. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting, playing cards, and quilting, many of which were donated. Helen and her husband Sy attended numerous high school and collegiate athletic events involving their children and grandchildren. Helen was an excellent cook, as she prepared many meals for family and friends, including homemade sweet bread during the Christmas season and her specialty pancakes.
   Helen is survived by her seven children, Mark (Lori) Lonneman, Adrian; Jerry (Connie) Lonneman, Adrian; Cindy Lonneman, Morris; Linda Lonneman (Terry Worth) Sunrise Beach, MO; Kevin (Nancy) Lonneman, Montevideo; Ron (Leah) Lonneman, Adrian; and Allan (Valerie) Lonneman, Sioux Falls; 14 grandchildren, Aaron (fiancee Jesse Hohwieler) Lonneman, Shaina (Tyler) Tycz, Kayla & Brady Lonneman; Tammy (Jon) Veld, Andrea (Erik) Kathman, Chad (Carissa) Lonneman; Andrew (Kelsey) Lonneman and Nate Lonneman; Mitchell (fiancee Hannah Willson) Lonneman and Bailey Lonneman; Chloe’, Jacob, and Dakota Lonneman; eight great-grandchildren, Kendyl Tycz; Mason, Kallie, Logan & Brayden Veld; Kinsley & Brody Kathman; and Rylie Lonneman; two great-grandchildren on the way; a brother, Alvin, “Sonny” (Connie) Wieneke, Luverne; two brothers-in-law, Anthony Lonneman, Adrian; and Orville Lonneman, Sioux Falls; a sister-in-law, Susie Lonneman, Adrian; and many nieces & nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sy in 2017, son, Dean in 1965, son, Tim in 1987; a sister, LaVone Wagner; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.  

   Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, with Parish Prayers at 4 pm, Monday, Sept. 26, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. Visitation also from 9:30 to 10:15 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Adrian Catholic Church, in Adrian, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Burial will be in the St. Adrian Cemetery.
