James Washington “Jim” Pierce, age 93, of Worthington, MN, died peacefully Monday, July 24, 2023 at his residence of Ecumen Meadows. He was born June 3, 1930 in Belmond, IA, he was the son of David and Ella Pierce. He attended school in Mason City, IA. Jim joined the army in 1947 where he served in Korea and Japan. After the army, he returned to Mason City, where he met his first wife Barbara Jean Lemon, now deceased. The family moved to Sterling, IL, then GA. He worked in the car business for over 40 years before he and Barbara moved to Worthington, MN.
After Barbara’s passing, he and Iris married on July 31, 2007. They attended The First United Methodist Church in Worthington.
Jim is survived by his wife, Iris Jordan Pierce of Worthington; 3 children, Jimmy of Conyers, GA, Lorrie (Andy) Wolff of Burlington, NC and Jeff (Pam) of Elizabeth City, NC. 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bruce; 2 grandsons, Bruce and Keith; one brother, David; and 3 sisters, Marcia, Mavis and Avis.
He enjoyed going to the casinos, visits from his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, conversations with folks; he was a people person, had a great sense of humor and
a beautiful smile. Our Papa will be missed, but forever in our hearts.
