James Vortherms

   JAMES THEODORE VORTHERMS, age 66, of Wilmont, died Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

  James was born on September 22, 1955 in Worthington, MN, the son of Joe and Marie (Balster) Vortherms. He spent his youth growing up on a farm outside of Wilmont. James graduated from Worthington High School in 1973. Then received a degree in Accounting from Jackson Vocational School.

   James worked at various jobs in accounting and project management. He enjoyed reading, especially history; watching westerns and old movies.

   James was married June 17, 1978 to Mary Spartz, and they had two children.

   James remarried Lois Fienhage Vortherms on September 21, 2015.

   James is survived by his wife, Lois Vortherms. Son, James (Michelle) Vortherms and their daughter, Emma. Daughter, Amber (Mike) Mayer and their children, Ben and Myles. Mother, Marie; three sisters, Joann (Gene) Stolt; Dianne (Mark) Edwards; Judy (Jim) Griebel; three brothers, Larry (Kelly) Vortherms; Joe (Jeanne) Vortherms; Dave (Kari) Vortherms; as well as many nieces and nephews

   James was preceded in death by his father, Joe Vortherms; and sister, LaVonne Vortherms.

   A Memorial Mass will be 11 am Monday, March, 14, 2022 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont, officiated by Monsignor Gerald Kosse. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial of cremains will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Wilmont.
