Obituary

   JASON EDWARD BARRIE, age 44, of Ocheyedan, IA, died Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at the Avera-McKennan Hospital, in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born January 4, 1976, in Winona. As an infant, he was adopted by Edgar and Dianne (Sturges) Barrie. Jason graduated from Worthington High School in 1994. He attended Worthington Community College “cruising Oxford Street”.

   Jason married Sara Sauer on August 12, 2000. To this union two children were born, Tanner & Hannah. The couple lived in Worthington. They later divorced.

   Jason married Laura Pedley on September 6, 2008, in Iowa. To this union three children were born, Parker, Isabelle & Paisley. They lived in Worthington before moving to Ocheyedan, IA in 2012. Jason worked at Lynch Livestock near Brewster.

   He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Worthington where he had served on the Covenant Council. He was also a member of the Southwest Minnesota Fishing Club and Ducks Unlimited. Jason enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, grilling, the Green Bay Packers and attending his children’s sporting events. He loved calling in to radio stations and was proud to have won “The Backyard Barbeque”. Jason was a very social person. He knew many many people. He couldn’t go anywhere without running into someone he had met before.

   Jason is survived by his wife, Laura Barrie, Ocheyedan, IA; five children, Tanner (special friend, Marrisa) Barrie, Sibley, IA; Hannah Barrie, Worthington; Parker Barrie, Ocheyedan, IA; Isabelle Barrie, Ocheyedan, IA; and Paisley Barrie, Ocheyedan, IA; grandson, Lincoln Bridges; mother, Dianne Barrie, Ocheyedan, IA; sister, Angela (Larry) Pearson, Plainfield, IL; and two nieces, Paige & Aubree Pearson.

   He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Barrie.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Jason’s name for his children’s education fund

   Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Funeral will be 10:30 am Monday at the First United Methodist Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Daren Flinck. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Worthington.
