JOE “TEJANO” PEREZ MARTINEZ, age 58, of Brewster, died Friday, March 18, 2022, at his home. He was born December 4, 1963, in San Saba, TX. Tejano graduated from Donna High School; and served his country in the United States Army. He moved to Minnesota in 1993; and in 2007, moved to Brewster.
Tejano met the mother of his children, Irene Martinez, and the couple was parents to two children, Joe Jr. and Jobae.
He worked at Swift, which later became JBS, and Shine Brothers in Worthington. Tejano later worked at Monogram Meat Snacks and Schuur Concrete in Chandler. Most recently, he worked at Premier Pork in Luverne.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington. He enjoyed traveling to Sioux Falls, cruising around, pawn shopping, working outside on his cars, his family and he loved to help others even if it was just to give someone a ride.
Tejano is survived by the mother of his children, Irene Martinez, Worthington; two children, Joe (fiancée, Kassandra) M. Martinez Jr., Mankato; and Jobae M. Martinez, Worthington; two step children, Anjelica Rosario, Worthington; and Armando (Johanna) Morales Jr., Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Isacc, Serenity, Nayaila and Jomael; three brothers, Juan Martinez Jr., Paul "Pablo" Martinez and Guadalupe Perez; six step grandchildren, America, Angel, Cileste, Yaretzi, Priscilla "Cela" and Armando Jr.; and his step father, Pedro Ruelas, Donna, TX.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Martinez.
Visitation will be Wednesday 4:30 – 6:30 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington. Funeral Mass will be 6:30 pm Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington. A private family burial, with full military honors, will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, in Minneapolis, at a later date. Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, is in charge of arrangements.
