LaVera Wick

   LaVera “Vera” Mae Wick, age 89, formally of Rushmore, MN died on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Vera was born on February 13, 1932 in Rushmore MN, to Arie and Lenora (Holm) Van Klei. She attended school in Rushmore and graduated from Worthington High school.

   Vera was united in marriage to Herbert Roland Wick on November 7, 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church in Rushmore, MN. Vera and Herb farmed the Wick family farm in Little Rock Township retiring in 1985.  Vera remained on the farm following Herb’s death in 2007 until moving to The Oaks in Luverne, MN in July of 2017. In September of 2020, Vera moved to Prairie Creek Memory Care Assisted Living in Sioux Falls, SD.

   She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rushmore where she was active in ladies circle and various church committees until her move to Luverne where she attended St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Vera enjoyed yardwork, gardening and canning and was an excellent cook. Her grandkids were her pride and joy and she made a practice of baking and decorating special cakes for their birthdays. She was also an excellent seamstress and quilter, making baby quilts for each grandchild.

   Vera is survived by her three children, Linda Studer of Sioux Falls, SD; Allen(Robin)Wick of Mesa, AZ; and Brenda(Brad) Lynn of rural Lismore, MN; nine grandchildren, Jake(Katie) Studer of Sioux Falls, SD; Breanna(Matthew) Goembel of Luverne ,MN; Jordan Studer and friend Kelly Tasky of Mankato, MN; Tyler(Brooke)Wick of Mesa, AZ; Tanner(Rachael)Wick of Mesa, AZ; Morgan(Waylon)Blasius of Elkton, SD; Mitchell(Abby)Lynn of Lismore, MN; Nate Lynn of Kenneth, MN and Tony(Lexi)Lynn of Magnolia, MN; and ten great-grandchildren, Camden and Adriana Studer; Brylee Wick; Jenna, Hanna and Tera Goembel; Gus, Edie and Graham Blasius, and Cason Lynn; one sister, Joyce (Herbert)Roettger, Stillwater, MN; sister-in-law, Erma Wick, Mankato, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

   She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Herb on June 30, 2007; great-grandson, Robert Blasius; and sisters, Marge Ritchie and Rosella (Rete) Brunk.

   Visitation will be from 10-11 am Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne.  Funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday at St. Jaoh Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Phil Booe.  Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
