Lawrence Schlimgen Obituary

LAWRENCE "CECIL" ANTHONY SCHLIMGEN, age 75, of Worthington, died Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at his home. He was born May 27, 1946, in Huron, SD, to Anthony and Anne (Wutsch) Schlimgen. Cecil grew up and graduated from high school in Huron. He worked at the Armour meat packing plant after high school.
Cecil married Arlys (Frey) Schlimgen on April 26, 1969, in Huron, SD. They moved to Worthington in 1970, while Lawrence worked at the Worthington location of Armours. Although he was busy raising kids, working, and countless other responsibilities, Cecil was an active member of the United States Army Reserve for more than twenty years. He proudly served his country in the first Gulf War.
Cecil was an extreme bargain hunter, enjoyed collecting coins, Gulf War memorabilia, and beer steins, and loved having a beer with his friends and family. If someone needed or wanted anything, he always found a way to get it for them. But most of all, he will be remembered for his unconditional care and love for those who needed it most. Actions speak louder than his few spoken words and he will be remembered for his undying commitment for the care of his wife.
Cecil is survived by wife, Arlys, Worthington, MN; three children, Loren (Tonya) Schlimgen, Worthing, SD; Angela Schlimgen, Golden Valley, MN, and Lance Schlimgen, Plymouth, MN; three grandchildren, Emma Schlimgen, Antone Schlimgen, and Sofiya Schlimgen; three sisters, JoAnne (Ardeen) Stoltenberg, Coon Rapids, MN; Janelle (Jeffrey Mishlove) Barlow, Albuquerque, NM; and Judy Davison, Joshua Tree, CA; and one brother, John (Pat) Schlimgen, Sioux Falls, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Anne.
