Lucille Taylor Obituary

LUCILLE A. TAYLOR, age 92, of Worthington, died Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the May Creel Hospice Cottage in Walker. She was born February 21, 1927 on a farm in Ransom Township to Douglas E. and Lillian (Olson) Roos. Lucille attended lower grades in a country school south of Rushmore. Later, as a child her family moved to a farm one mile south and ½ mile east of Rushmore, she went to Rushmore Public School to 6th grade. She then went to Worthington High School and graduated in 1945. After graduation, Lucille worked at J.C. Penny. In 1966, she became employed at the Worthington Regional Hospital in Housekeeping in the linen room until she retired in 1992.

Lucille married Leo Cooper on June 5, 1948 at her parents’ home. The couple made their home in the Rushmore area, and later moved to Worthington. Leo died September 21, 1985. She married John Taylor on September 11, 1993 at the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, after marriage, they made their home in rural Worthington.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rushmore and served as a Deacon. She enjoyed spending time with family, flower gardening, bird watching, reading, and collecting angels.

Lucille is survived by son, Larry (Jean) Cooper, Pine River, two daughters, Pam (Charlie) Engels, Palisade; and Julie Bardos, Harrisburg, IL; daughter-in-law, Susan Jacobson, Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two Sisters, Mary (Del) Royer, Summerton, SC; and Lorene White, Worthington; and sister-in-law, Virginia Roos, Pearl, MS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Leo Cooper, and second husband, John Taylor; son, David Cooper; sister, Catherine Scharfe; two brothers, Dale and Donald Roos, & wife Gerry Lou Roos; sister-in-law, Blanche Baumgard; granddaughter, Torri Stanley; brother-in-law, Kenneth White; and son-in-law, Michael Bardos.

   Funeral service will be 11 am Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, in Rushmore, officiated by Pastor Paul Synder. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

   Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, is in charge of arrangements.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore.
