ZORA (PAULINE) MARTIN, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. She was born to Anna Katherine Elizabeth Schuchart and Laurel Ransom (Snix) Barrow on 29 Jan 1935 in Pierre, SD. She was the oldest of six children, Mary Holland, AZ; John Barrow Sharon Saunders, MO; Philip Barrow, IN; and Phyllis (Gene) Dubbe, SD.
She grew up in Custer, SD and graduated from Custer High School. She was also a graduate of the National College of Business in Rapid City, SD.
Music was a big part of her life from age 15 to 40. She was a member of the band, playing the tuba in marching and concert band, also a member of Glee Club, girls and mixed course. God blessed her with a strong contralto voice and she sang in all church choirs wherever she lived. That all stopped with the carotid artery surgery.
She married Robert Harn Sr. in 1953, they later divorced, and four sons were born of that union. Robert, (Oralea), CO; William, MI; Calvin, SD; and Tim, WY. Her children were the love of her life. She loved music and introduced it to the boys. She loved playing games, cards, puzzles, fishing and the outdoors. Her home was open to all; she gave a home to all 4 of her siblings.
She married Richard Adair in 1968 and a daughter was lovingly adopted into this union, Christine (Allen) Fick, MN. She is a wonderful daughter with two sons. Dick and her taught Sunday School in Casper, WY, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
She married William Martin in 1994. Pauline was employed by the US government for 22 ½ years, retiring in 1998. She received the highest civilian award for achievement. She served at two bases, Whiteman AFB, MO and Fort Richardson, AK.
Fun things for her were camping, dinner theaters, riding motorcycle with Bill, traveling with Richard, reading, sewing, embroidering and ice racing. She also enjoyed making baby blankets for each new born at Sanford Hospital in Luverne and delivering lap robes to Mary Jane Brown nursing home and prayer shawls to the Vets home in Luverne. She also enjoyed the outreach program for the Baptist Church in Luverne.
Pauline is survived by her husband William, four sons and one daughter, ten grandchildren, Kimberly (Gray) Eric, Ellie and Korben, Wade and Wyatt Harn, Kristy (Goodman) Jacob and Bennan Harn, Tim, Jennifer, Kylee and Braedon Harn, Gregory (Natalie) and Derek Fick, Bianca and Micheal Adair. Six stepchildren, Jerry (Mary) Adair, Stan (Nina) Duane (Coleen), Les (Rhonda) Adair, Sherry (Dave) Solomon, several step grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and 3 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, two brothers, John and Phil, two brothers-in-law, Don Holland and TD Saunders; ex-husband Robert Harn Sr. and Richard Adair; two sisters-in-law, Donna Barrow and Beverly Barrow, step daughter, Dixie Pethound.
Visitation will be from 2-3 PM Saturday June 27, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Luverne. A memorial service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Walt Moser officiating.
Memorial preferred to Sanford Hospice Cottage of Luverne.
