Robert Edward Cook, age 73, of Luverne, died Thursday September 8 the 2022 after a short battle with Cancer at the Good Samaritan Home in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born May 20, 1949 to Reino and Helena (Thomas) Cook. From his birthplace of Waukegan, IL, Bob chose to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from September 1969 to September 1975. He carried on his work ethic learned in the Army and began a long and varied career. He returned to Waukegan after the war where he purchased and ran a Service Station. He then went on to become an Illinois Sherriff for 12 years. Bob then relocated to Las Vegas where he spent his time as Head of Security for…….. Anyone that knew Bob knew his love for the slot machine so Vegas was a perfect place for him.
In 2011, Bob moved to Luverne, MN where he began to work at Casey’s General Store. It was here that he gained his reputation as the grumpy old man at the gas station, a title he embraced proudly. The people he got to meet and the conversations he got to have with the people of Luverne were what kept Bob at Casey for more than 11 years. Even after his retirement, Bob couldn’t stay away and worked part time at the store.
Bob is survived by his son, Kevin (Kelli Jamison) Click, Sioux Falls, SD and close family friend, Scott
(Marie) Click and their children Megan, Elijah, and Timothy Click, Valley Springs.
