ROBERT ARTHUR LANGE, age 88, of Beaver Creek, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at his home. He was born September 28, 1930, in Beaver Creek Township, to August and Margaret (Frahm) Lange. He attended Dist. #60 country school in Nobles County. Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married Myrna Emery on May 6, 1955, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne. In 1966, they moved to an acreage near Beaver Creek. Bob raised "Lange’s Quarter Horses" for over thirty six years. Several of his horses appeared at the Minnesota State Fair in competition. He also worked at Hanson Silo Company, in Luverne, for thirty one years. He then worked at IBP, in Luverne, for over six years. He worked at Schwartz Manufacturing, in Sioux Falls, until his retirement at the age of 79.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne; the American Quarterhorse Association; and the Luverne American Legion & VFW. Bob enjoyed raising his horses, watching his son and grandchildren participating in football, baseball, basketball and other activities. During the 1999 - 2000 basketball season, Bob attended 103 games. He also enjoyed fishing, and watching the Minnesota Twins & Vikings.
Bob is survived by his son, Jeff (Nancy) Lange, Beaver Creek; daughter, Jean Lange, Beaver Creek; three grandchildren, Sarah (Kyle) Landin, Edgerton; Josh Lange, Beaver Creek; and Abby Lange, Fergus Falls; four great-grandchildren, Wayne Page; and Destiny, Joaquine & Elijah Landin; many friends and family; and his dog, Gypsy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Myrna on December 31, 2009; eight sisters, Fern Werkman, Esther Utley, Violet Cauwels, Vivian Cauwels, Florence Utley, Edna Goembel, Joyce Mormon and Evelyn Broesder; and four brothers, Ray, Lloyd, Donald and Rodney Lange.
A time of fellowship will be from 5-7 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. Memorial service with full military honors provided by the Luverne American Legion & VFW will be Monday at 7 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Ron Nichols. A private family committal of cremains will take place at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
