ROBERT JAMES LYNN, age 88, of Lismore, died Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at the Sanford Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. He was born on September 14, 1931, in rural Cherokee, Iowa.  He was the son of Herbert and Sophia (Erdman) Lynn.  In the early 1940's, his family moved to the rural Lismore area.  He attended St. Anthony Catholic School in Lismore and St. Adrian Catholic School in Adrian.  He entered the US Army during the Korean War in January 1953.  He received an honorable hardship discharge in August 1953.  He married Jeannette Touw on April 11, 1955, at St. Anthony Catholic Church.  They farmed in the Lismore area from 1955 to 2009 until their retirement.

He was a lifetime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore, a member of the Knight's of Columbus and served on the church council.  He also served as a director on the local Farmer's Union and Five Star boards.  He was a member of the Blue Mound Woodcarvers.  Most important to him were his faith, family and farming.  He was an avid woodworker filling his children's homes with many of his masterpieces.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife.  Some of their travels included Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Disney World, Alaska, many fly-in fishing trips to Canada and visited most of the 50 states with their children.  They wintered in Texas for 8 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Lynn; children, Deb (Steve) Scheidt, Worthington; Jeff (Denise) Lynn, Lismore; Diane (Chuck) Foerster, LaCrescent, Minnesota; Barb (Rick) Dorn, Eagan, Minnesota, and Brad (Brenda) Lynn, Lismore.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Chris (Gretchen) Scheidt, Becky (Joel) Heitkamp, Amanda (Justin) Johnson, Natalie (Kyle) Bender, Sam (Adam) Voss, Nick Lynn, Andy (Emily) Foerster, Kate Foerster, Molly (Joe) Veit, Stacy (Matt) Bauler, Stephanie (Mike) Hopkins, Bobby Dorn (fiance Erin), Morgan (Waylon) Blasius, Mitchell (Abby) Lynn, Nate Lynn and Tony (Lexi) Lynn.  He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren; sister, Irene Kruger, Rochester, Minnesota; and brother-in-law, Bill McCann, Canton, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Pete and Dorothy Touw; great grandson, Robert Bradley Blasius; his seven sisters (Florence Voss, Ila Daly, Viola Skov, Darlene Smith, Kaye Hage, Helen  McCann and Jeanne Rasmussen); and one brother, Clyde Lynn.

He leaves a legacy to his family to carry on, the importance of humility, kindness and compassion towards everyone.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, Minnesota, the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Luverne and the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington for their kind and compassionate care.
