SHANNON JAY AANENSON, age 53, of Worthington, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Shannon, the son of Dennis and Rachel (Koldenhoven) Aanenson, was born on June 16, 1967 in Sheldon, IA, and grew up on a farm near Worthington, MN. He graduated from Fulda High School and briefly lived in California before returning to Worthington.
Shannon was united in marriage to Carla Spillman on December 10, 1994. They raised two daughters, Angel and Kala. Shannon worked many years at Shine Brothers and then Bedford Technology in Worthington.
He enjoyed having visits with his grandkids and spending time outdoors going fishing, camping, canoeing, and playing horseshoes. He had a love for animals, especially his dogs Maggie and Primo, and would frequently bring home the stray cats that he loved to hate.
Shannon is survived by his wife Carla of 25 years, Worthington; two daughters, Angel (Bob) Cornelius, Minot, ND, and their children, Payton, Dakota and Oaklynn; and Kala (Austin Rossow), Lakefield; parents, Dennis & Rachel Aanenson, Park Rapiuds; two sisters, Kari (Beth) Aanenson, Duluth; and Laura (Shane) Kirlin, Park Rapids; a younger brother, Thomas (Brianna) Aanenson, Owatonna; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Primo the dog.
The family would like to thank Sanford Hospice, especially Roxanne, who provided much comfort and care to Shannon and his family in his final days.
A time of fellowship will be from 4-6 pm on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
