Tillie Jacobs Obituary

TILLIE JACOBS, age 101, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center. She was born April 30, 1921, to Carl and Grace (Feeken) Reiter, at their home near Rushmore.

Tillie married Dick A. Jacobs on March 19, 1946, at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore. They farmed in the Rushmore area; and, when Dick passed away in 2009, she stayed on the farm with her son’s help until October of 2021, when she decided to go to South Shore Care Center in Worthington.

She was a faithful lifelong member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday School and VBS teacher, Ladies Aid officer, and sang In the choir.

She loved being outdoors, doing farm chores, gardening and yardwork. Tillie enjoyed spending time with her family, puzzles, playing the piano and, most of all, helping and taking care of others. Her positive attitude made her a favorite of all who knew her. She often told everyone how blessed she felt.

Tillie is survived by her daughter, Janet Smid, Worthington; son, Randy (Joyce) Jacobs, Rushmore; two granddaughters, Laura and Sarah Jacobs, Brookings, SD; step-grandson, Jeremey (Marcie) Smid, Sgt. Bluff, IA; step- great-granddaughter, Haley Smid (Trevor Logan), Truman, MN; step-great-great-grandchildren, Kinzlee and Jamison Logan; brother, Arnold (Gail) Reiter, North Mankato, MN; sister-in-law, Norma Reiter, Rogers, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; step-mother, Katie Reiter; son-in-law, Carl Smid; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Kelly Alberts; and two brothers, Ray and Ubbe.

Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Thursday at Emmanuel First United Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore, officiated by Pastor Randall Knuth. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Presbyterian Cemetery.
