VERNA ELAINE MULDER, age 86, of Worthington, died Thursday, October 1, 2020, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. She was born October 10, 1933, in Balaton, to Herman and Viola (Hall) Habben. She graduated from Balaton High School. Verna attended Fairview Nursing College and Augustana. She received her Masters Degree in Education at the University of Minnesota.
Verna married Gerald Mulder on September 9, 1956, in Easley, SC. After their marriage, the couple lived in Rushmore. Verna started the LPN Program at the Worthington Junior College where she taught nursing. In 1988, the couple moved to Worthington.
She was a member of the Lakeside Church in Worthington and the National Education Society. Verne volunteered for many local organizations. She enjoyed going for walks, reading, tending to her roses and wintering in Westminster, SC.
Verna is survived by her husband, Gerald Mulder, Worthington; three children, Jeff (Janice) Mulder, Le Mars, IA; Jon (Kim) Mulder, Katy, TX; and Justin Mulder, Freeman, SD; a son-in-law, Kendal Kaihoi, Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (fiancée, Sarah) Mulder, Jeanna (Lance) Pankratz, Joelle Mulder, Jena (Andrew) Mahoney, Randi (Nate) Ernst, Rachyl (Michael) Kaihoi, Josh (fiancée, Kaci) Mulder; twelve great-grandchildren; Elliot, Joy, Kaytlin, Logun, Emmalin, Olivia, Samuel, Ava, Danielle, Phoebe, Josephine, Annalise and a sister, Dorothy Mainous, Westminster, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janice Kaihoi; three brothers, George, Bill and Edward Habben; and a sister, LaDonna Johnson.
A private family memorial service will take place at the Dingmann Fuineral Home, in Worthington, at a later date.
