VICTOR “VIC” JOHN SLATER, age 92, of Wilmont, died Friday, December 11, 2020, at his home. He was born March 31, 1928, in Larkin Township, rural Wilmont, to William and Helena (John) Slater. He attended country school.
Vic married Mildred Klein on June 12, 1951, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. The couple lived in Wilmont where Vic drove a gravel truck. The couple later began farming northeast of Wilmont. In 1958, they purchased their current farm west of Wilmont.
He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont; and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed car racing, traveling, country music, rodeos and trail rides.
Vic is survived by his four children, Bill (Monica) Slater, Rushmore; Theresa (Allen) Henderschiedt, Worthington; Beverly (David) Uppman, Worthington; and Joseph (special friend Connie Nelson) Slater, Wilmont; six grandchildren, Adam (Amy) Slater, Daniel (Ellen) Slater, Tami (Matthew) Dieringer, Brian Henderschiedt, Stacy (Sone) Sithad and Tracy (Brian) Alexander; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Ella, Robbie, Susan, Frank, Henry, Charlie, Clara, Helena, Miriam, Tayden, Rylan, Lauren and Logan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred in 1996; son, David Slater; and a grandson, Kyle Uppman.
A celebration of life will be 10:30 am Saturday, July 24, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
