Warren Rohwer Obituary

     Warren C. Rohwer, age 89, of Rushmore, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020, at the Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Warren was born on December 9, 1930, in Worthington, MN, to Clarence and Bernice (Hislop) Rohwer. He attended Rushmore Country School and graduated from Worthington High School (1949). He then attended the University of Minnesota Farm Agricultural School where he met Ginger (Briese). They were married on October 4, 1952, and had four children. They lived for two years in Portsmouth, Virginia, where Warren was stationed with the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. They returned to Rushmore, MN, where Warren took over the family farm, in addition to farming he flew commercially for a local hatchery. He started a large scale turkey farming operation. He later started Prairie View Aerial Spraying Service. During those years he also trained and received certifications as a commercial pilot with instrument and flight instructor ratings. He continued to farm (which became a century farm) and aerial application spraying until his retirement. Warren was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rushmore where he served as an Elder for many years. Warren was an active member of Civil Air Patrol holding many different offices including Squadron Commander and Senior Pilot for thirty years, and retired as a Lt. Col. He also became certified as an EMT.

     Warren and Ginger enjoyed traveling throughout their years together and took trips to Canada, Hawaii, England, Scotland, Wales, Amsterdam, and many cities throughout the United States. Warren enjoyed numerous hobbies, flying being his passion. He also enjoyed antique car restoration and spending time with his family and friends.

     Warren is survived by his wife, Ginger Rohwer, of Rushmore, MN; four children, sons, Richard (Shelly) Rohwer of Champlin, MN, Randall (Deborah) Rohwer of Isle, MN; and daughters, Sharie (Russell) Brunk of La Crescent, MN, and Joy (Dr. Larry) Foster of Adrian, MN; eight granddaughters, Wendy, Kendra, Kristi, Kayla, Holly, Trisha, Stephanie, Lindsay; and twelve great grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Ardis Rohwer, Muriel Lawrence, brother-in-law Carl Lawrence and granddaughter Jada Brunk.

     Visitation will be from 7-9 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020, at the First Presbyterian Church of Rushmore with Pastor Del Bolluyt officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Worthington American Legion & VFW, & the USAF USA Civil Air Patrol 113th Squadron will be at the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore after the service, with lunch to follow at the Rushmore School.
