ELAINE KAE NELSON, age 57, of Worthington, died Friday, October 21, 2016, at her home. She was born December 9, 1958, in Spirit Lake, IA, to Jim and Janice (Piscator) Sangl. She graduated from Worthington High School and also attended Minnesota West.

Elaine married Richard Nelson on July 22, 2004, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. The couple lived in Worthington. Elaine had worked at the Daily Globe in Worthington and Ruth's Drapery before working as a secretary at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington.

She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed NASCAR, photography, gardening and crafts, especially leather crafts.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Richard Nelson, Worthington; parents, Jim & Janice Sangl, Okoboji, IA; three children, Jenny (Jesse) Thies, Winside, NE; Lineka (special friend, Matt Persing) Nelson, Worthington; and Lance (special friend, Stacy Kass) Nelson Worthington; three grandchildren, Makenna & Nicholas Thies; and Lucas Nelson; and two brothers, Monty Sangl, Nevada, MO; and Doug Sangl, Sioux Falls, SD. She is also survived by her dog Bella.

   A time of fellowship will be from 4 to 7:30 PM Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A memorial service will be 10:30 am Wednesday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Galen Smith. A private family burial of cremains will be at a later date.
