STEVEN ROGER HECK, age 71, of Luverne, died Sunday, November 13, 2016, at his home. He was born May 11, 1945, in Denver, CO, to Merrill and Pauline (Johnson) Heck. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1963. He served his country in the Minnesota National Guard.
Steve married Sandy Hatting on September 24, 1966, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. The couple lived in Luverne. Steve worked as a Design Engineer at Luverne Truck Equipment in Brandon, SD.
Steve was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, in Luverne, where he served as a money counter for many years. In addition to spending time with his family and grandchildren, he loved to ride his Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic. He was a member of the Sioux Falls HOG Chapter, and enjoyed attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally every August in the Black Hills.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sandy Heck, Luverne; four children, Kimberly (Mike) Monmaney, Sioux Falls, SD; Kristine (Chad Gruis) Heck, Luverne; Kirby (Wendy) Heck, Colorado Springs, CO; and Korey Heck, Luverne; eight grandchildren, Arielle (Dustin Modder), Stephen, Taylor, Tierra, Jordan, Riley, Kennedy, and Skylar; and a great granddaughter, Madison.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also, one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Gary Klatt. Burial will be with military honors in St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Luverne.
