DARLA LYNN (McCLURE) JOHNSON, age 49, of Luverne, died peacefully in the arms of her two sons on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne. She was born October 2, 1962, in Luverne, to Douglas and Darlene (Woolsey) McClure. Darla graduated from Luverne High School in 1981. She worked at Kenny’s Grocery Store and the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.
Darla married Dan Johnson on July 16, 1983, in Luverne. The couple lived on an acreage northwest of Luverne.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne. She enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes and watching the Minnesota Twins & Vikings.
Darla is survived by her husband, Dan Johnson, Luverne; two sons, Dustin Michael Johnson, Luverne; and Derek Andrew Johnson, Luverne; parents, Douglas & Darlene McClure, Luverne; two sisters, Diane (Gary) Blattner, Plymouth; and Debi (Cliff) Scholten, Magnolia; a brother, Douglas A. (Carol) McClure, Luverne; and her grandmother, Hilda (Woolsey) Ihlan, Luverne.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Elmer Woolsey; paternal grandparents, John & Annie McClure; and four uncles, Wendell Goeske, John Jr. “Buster”, Gary & Roger McClure.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral will be 2 PM Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Paul Fries. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
